Research Interests
Cooperate with Department of Horticulture faculty having vegetable research assignments in doing studies involving vegetable crop management and variety evaluations. Studies since 1988 have dealt with cauliflower.

MOST SIGNIFICANT SERVICE, PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS (since 1988):
Participated with other faculty members in exploration of systems approaches for improving agriculture and incorporated systems thinking about horticulture/agriculture into a number of management-oriented classes. Initiated the use of written and field-based case studies in the Department of Horticulture teaching program. Developed or participated in development of three new courses including one that introduces incoming students to the horticulture industry through field trips and guest speakers, a second that serves as a capstone course for Horticulture and Crop and Soil Science students, and a third that serves as the introduction to crop production for students in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Learned and began teaching Landscape Plant Materials. Developed two writing intensive curriculum (WIC) courses.

Courses Taught
Teaching:
Contribute to overall undergraduate programs of the Department of Horticulture and the College of Agricultural Sciences by teaching fundamental courses in crop production, principles of horticulture, and capstone courses based on case studies in cropping systems management. Contribute to the department's ornamental-horticulture program by teaching its landscape plant materials and greenhouse management courses.
